Why most people think that being introverted a bad thing?

I have found many answers here, where people use the term social handicap as an introvert. "I guess I do not see as such. Why everyone thinks that the best people in the world are extroverts and why output to be more acceptable and more attractive than being shy and personal? Is American society today? Is our media / entertainment industry has nothing to do with it? I'm curious because I have a very introverted person, but does not mean they do not know how to interact with people. It just means I'd rather not. Me would like your opinion. Thanks in advance. The person who gives the best explanation, even if they disagree with me, will be awarded ten points. : O)
