Is it all hype? or can a social media busines training course really provide your business with new customers effortlessly over other more traditional ways of marketing?!

I have been actively involved in internet marketing and property for the last 2 years. I had some initial good success with property and bought 5 in the first 6 months. Mortgage market changed and due to circumstances out of my control I was unable to get a mortgage for a while. Internet marketing seemed the natural step while I waited for options to changewithin property.

How it all started….

I went to an internet marketing summit and saw lots of speakers on stage professing to make x amount in x amount of time and I don’t doubt that they did. There was just a steep learning curve initially.I think I found myself a little bit in analysis paralysis mode and wanted to know everything before I did the big launch of my website or product or whatever it was.

FAST FORWARD 2 YEARS…

Now I’ve been making reasonable amounts of money through organic search engine listings. I had noted the gradual surge towards social media by friend, guru’s and business people I knew within the field of internet marketing. Looking back I was almost reluctant I think, NO… almost stubborn because part of me had been reluctant to follow the "latest thing" of using social media for traffic because I wanted to go against the herd and do my own thing rather then jump on the wave of hype like everyone else.

BIG MISTAKE… or was it?

Now I was watching other internet marketers and business people use social media to make serious amounts of money who would have admitted beforehand had a lot less knowledge and experience of search engine optimisation through to article submission and link building then myself. I also noted however that a good few of my friends with more money than sense were keen to try out facebook and its ad sense style advertising (that you see on the right hand side of your screen within your profile/wall). They plurged money left right and centre as they targeted niches and demographics that they were either used to dealing with or excited at reaching where adsense had comparitively gotten so expensive.

Now I had no sort of social media plan and I was feeling quite overwhelmed by just the contemplation that yet again I would have to learn and understand another aspect of internet marketing. It takes a lot of time and although I have people working for me in other countries for small amounts of money… I’ve found to really get them working efficiently you need to at least need to have a comprehension of what it is exactly that you’re paying them to do.

Without realising…

A businessman I had met nearly 2 years ago by this point by the name of William Debauchez had for the most part gone a different route with his property investing but had also like me ventured into internet marketing. We chatted on the phone from time to time and we got talking about what the other person was doing. He told me about his venture Internet coaching circle. I thought we could do future business together and trade the knowledge we knew. He showed me some of the stuff he was teaching. Quite frankly it blew my mind. So many social media marketing consultants profess to have the answer and the "magic pill" that will fast track your business, but here as he showed me the slides and presentation…. he had created a product all of in itself that was a direct marketing plan for any given business.

Like me??

If like me you are either just getting to grips with social media strategies and social media websites then it is a steep learning curve particularly to begin with. The feeling of overwhelm can be well… "overwhelming" so much to learn in one day that it can be great to get a head start.
